01SJ is here

Sculpture at Zer01

Inflatable Architectural Growth at Zer01.

As of tonight, the 3rd San Jose 01SJ Biennial is officially started. I haven’t been able to get downtown to see the preparations in progress, but I’ve gotten psyched reading about it on The San Jose Blog, the ARTSHIFT San Jose Blog, and Zer01’s own blog.

The main event for the broad community is the street festival AbsoluteZER0, Friday night from 5 til midnight. AbsoluteZER0 features artworks such as the Inflatable Architectural Growth, a two-person ferris wheel called Over the Top, and the Sonic Tube by Suzy Poling.

Throughout the Biennial South Hall, an 80,000 square foot exhibit space adjacent to the San Jose Convention Center, will host Out of the Garage Into the World, which is an exhibition of multiple artworks such as Gift Horse, a replica Trojan Horse filled with models of viruses, and an audio sculpture called wind coil sound flow. A variety of other exhibits, talks, and films will be spread around other venues around town: Only the 01SJ Schedule can really contain it all.

01SJ runs through Sunday, September 19. AbsoluteZero is a free event. Access to South Hall is available for $5 at the door, and passes to the entire 01SJ program are available from $24 (one day) to $45 (multi-day).

i wish we could just use normal marketing names for these events. All this 010101011010 nonsense is completely forgettable.

    Hi Peter,
Haha, yes. It’s a fine line between clever and confusing.
