Comcast San Jose Jazz Festival 2008

For some, 8/8/08 is considered the ‘luckiest day’ for many reasons. For me it marks the first day of the Comcast San Jose Jazz Festival.

Big Bad Voodoo Daddy performs in the 8 o’clock hour.

Here’s hoping the lucky eights will help bring wealth and prosperity to the city.

On and off stage last year.

I was starting to worry the biggest event of the year for downtown would be started before we (SJ Metblogs) got around to noticing it.

According to the festival website, music on the main stage starts at 5 PM tonight, with the Joe Ferrari Big Band first up. On Saturday and Sunday there will be five outdoor stages and two indoor stages carrying a full schedule, with additional events at a few other venues. Admission is ridiculously low at $10 per day, considering the amount of great music you could see and hear.

It is not about us (SJ Metblogs) not noticing the Jazz Festival, it is more about the City of San Jose and their unwillingness to put some money behind it.

I’m going all three days – should be good.
