Bay Area Travel Show 2008

Cruise, not TomThis weekend is the Bay Area Travel Show in Santa Clara. There will be seminars and exhibitors including: resorts, tour operators, cruise lines, etc.

Most notable will be the seminars presented by Doug McConnell, host of Bay Area Backroads; John Hamilton, KGO Radio Travel & Leisure host; Pauline Frommer, daughter of travel expert Arthur Frommer; along with Rick Steves, PBS’s Rick Steves Europe (KTEH will have a Rick Steves Europe marathon Saturday 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm and repeated Sunday 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm).

There will also be seminars about traveling to Calaveras County, Alberta (no sales tax), China, and Central Italy.

Check the event schedule here for days and times.

What a great way to shake off the winter blues by thinking about and maybe even planning some travel.

If you go on Sunday get there early for Rick Steve’s talk. The other talks you could walk up at the last minute but for Rick Steve’s the line was over 500 feet long. They had to open up the room to double its size.

One thing I found out from the Web-site is that tickets are half the price if booked online!
