Summer Send Off
With the rain this morning it looks as though the Dog Days of Summer are over. That means only one thing… It’s time for the first annual ‘KFOX Summer Send Off.’
Performing this year: The Steve Miller Band, the Greg Kihn Band, Big Brother and The Holding Company, and from San Jose our own Doobie Brothers.
Go early, the doors open at 4:30, to see two South Bay bands performing on the side stage. Redwood City-based rock band Lane Four and Crimes of Passion from San Jose.

Like the Doobies, many bands got their start in the South Bay.
Lindsey Buckingham met Stephanie Lynn “Stevie” Nicks at San Jose State. They had gigs together at the fairgrounds.
The Count Five, a 1960s garage rock band from San Jose, was best known for their Top 10 single “Psychotic Reaction”.
In 1964 The Syndicate of Sound was formed in San Jose.
The Chocolate Watchband, a garage rock-band formed in Cupertino, played the Bold Knight in Sunnyvale.
The first time I saw Tower of Power was at a bowling alley in Fremont or Hayward.
Smash Mouth was created in San Jose in 1994 by Steve Garwell, Kevin Coleman, Greg Camp and Paul De Lisle.
