R2-D2 Mailboxes

R2-D2
A few weeks ago I was in the post office on Dell Ave. when I noticed an ad for Star Wars stamps. I asked the clerk if they were available yet. I got an answer and a warning. He told me that the stamps would be on sale May 25th. He was worried that a large crowd could show up and that they might come in costume. He seemed to be resigned for an invasion.

The 41 cent stamps will be issued on a single sheet resembling a movie poster, to celebrate 30 years since the release of Star Wars, and can be ordered online.

I also learned that mailboxes across the US are wrapped as Star Wars robot R2-D2. I found one of the little guys on Greylands Dr. off of Hamilton Ave. (The eBay campus)

It is the only one I have seen in the San José area. Does anyone know where the others are?

Gary: so can we get 2c stamps to use along with older 39c stamps that we already have?

Yes, they are available. They are the “Navajo Jewelry” stamps used for the last postal increase. I still have an unopened packet, so I have no worry of having to go to the post office.

Both the stamps and mail boxes are cool. I didn’t know you could vote on the stamps until I saw the address on the mailbox. now I’ve been voting every day.
